Poll: Voters against Schwarzenegger sequel

June 29, 2005 at 4:41 PM   |   Comments

SAN FRANCISCO, June 29 (UPI) -- A poll shows a solid majority of Californians asked would vote against Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger if he runs for re-election in 2006.

A week after a Field Poll found Schwarzenegger's job performance on par with the approval rating of former Gov. Gray Davis -- before Davis was tossed out of office in a 2003 recall -- the newest Field Poll finds 57 percent of registered voters would not support another term for Schwarzenegger.

The percentage of respondents who would support re-election fell from 56 percent in February to just 39 percent.

The San Francisco Chronicle said the poll also showed voter disenchantment with Schwarzenegger seems to be spilling over to Hollywood figures Rob Reiner and Warren Beatty. Neither has announced any political plans, but both have been at the center of speculation about a possible candidacy.
