Missing Scout, 11, found alive in Utah

KAMAS, Utah, June 21 (UPI) -- An 11-year-old Cub Scout missing for four days in northeastern Utah was found alive and well Tuesday after a massive search.

The boy, Brennan Hawkins, apparently walked away from a Boy Scout camp high in the mountains Friday.

Sheriff's officials and family members confirmed he had been found. "Brennan has been found," a family spokesman told reporters. "He is in very good condition."

The boy, suffering only from exposure, hunger and thirst, was transported to a hospital. His family was hurrying to his side.

Searchers on mules or horses reportedly found the boy about five miles east or northeast of the Scout camp.

The camp is on rugged terrain about 8,500 feet above sea level.

Searchers and officials were celebrating as news of the happy ending filtered through the massive effort to find the boy.
