Russia, U.S. to fight terror together

MOSCOW, June 1 (UPI) -- U.S. and Russian lawmakers agreed Wednesday on new ideas to fight terrorism amd crime.

A joint statement on countering international terrorism and drug trafficking was accepted at a joint session of the international affairs committees of the Russian State Duma and the U.S. Congress, Interfax news agency reported.

The document was signed by Rep. Henry Hyde, R-Ill., chairman of the House International Relations Committee, and Duma International Affairs Committee Chairman Konstantin Kosachyov. It included recommendations to consider a number of bills aimed at eliminating the sources of the financing of terrorism and countering drug trafficking and international crime, Interfax said.
