Saudi king stable in ICU

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, May 29 (UPI) -- Saudi sources close to the ruling family said Sunday King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz' condition is improving although he remains in intensive care.

A Saudi source said on condition of anonymity visitors were not allowed to see the monarch, who was taken to King Faisal Specialized Hospital in Riyadh Friday.

But he added the king's condition was now "much better than he was on Friday," adding that his fever was down and his lungs were improving.

Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal said Saturday Fahd's medical condition was stable and his test results were "reassuring."

Fahd's half-brother, Crown Prince Abdullah, has been running the oil-rich kingdom's affairs since the monarch suffered a stroke in 1995.
