KATHMANDU, Nepal, May 26 (UPI) -- Nepal should provide a road between China and India, the Nepal Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies says.

A road could help bolster Nepal's tourism industry, as well as boost foreign investment, Nepal experts told the People's Daily. They said a study conducted by the ministry supports their belief, which is shared by their king.

"Nepal could be the transit point between the two giants in Asia, China and India," Nepal King Gyanendra said last month.

As quoted by the People's Daily, the king said, "It is a trilateral subject, so we will promote this matter from our side."

King Gyanendra spoke with Chinese President Hu Jintao and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Jakarta last month, stressing his readiness to provide the transit point.

Nepal's former ambassador to China, Rajeswor Acharya, stressed the need for talks with China. Nepal has already signed and agreement with India about a road.

He also noted that a transit point in Nepal could result in access to Central Asia, an area with large gas and petroleum reserves.
