Police said the three arrived at a Fujiyoshida hospital in Yamanashi prefecture on Saturday, complaining of constipation and sore stomachs.

The physician who examined the men grew suspicious and had them X-rayed, discovering they had each swallowed numerous little plastic bags packed with drugs. The physician notified police, who analyzed the substance in the plastic bags and confirmed it was amphetamines.

The two surviving men will be questioned in connection with suspected violations of the Stimulants Control Law, once they have sufficiently recovered.
