Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said he was "profoundly repulsed" by the bombing.

Although no one has claimed responsibility for the explosion, local authorities blame the Basque separatist group ETA, which has been held responsible for more than 800 deaths since beginning its campaign for independence in the 1960s.

Earlier this month, four bombs exploded in Spain's Basque region, injuring three people. Spanish authorities blamed ETA for that incident as well.
