Gang members kill Mass. teen, father

LYNN, Mass., May 18 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts teen was killed in a failed attempt to shield her handicapped father from a barrage of gunshots fired by a gang inside their Lynn home.

Amy Dumas, 16, used her own body to cover her wheelchair-bound father, Robert Finnerty Sr., 47, but both were killed.

Four Asian gang members allegedly invaded their home Monday and sprayed their apartment with bullets after a failed attempt to buy drugs, the Boston Herald reported.

"She got in front of him. She was trying to protect him. Who would think he would be shot sitting in his chair with his 16-year-old daughter trying to protect him?" asked Debbie Patrazza, Amy's aunt.

Within hours of the slaying, Chon Son, 19, and Phap Buth, 30, reputed members of the "Oriental Boys" gang, were found in possession of several semiautomatic handguns and were arrested.

Finnerty was allegedly known as a low-level marijuana dealer. His wife, Judith, reportedly turned Buth away after he knocked on their door asking for a "dime bag." Minutes later Buth and four others returned and opened fire, police said.
