U.N. verification team end Lebanon mission

BEIRUT, Lebanon, May 11 (UPI) -- A United Nations team sent to Lebanon to make sure Syrian forces have left the country has concluded its mission.

An official U.N. statement issued Wednesday said the international team thanked Lebanese army Gen. Michel Sleiman, then left to prepare its report to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

"The team thanked Sleiman for the assistance offered by the army facilitating their operation and leading to the success of their mission," the statement said.
