Ecuador's ex-president to file appeal

QUITO, Ecuador, May 8 (UPI) -- Former Ecuadorian President Lucio Gutierrez has decided to file an appeal to the Organization of American States regarding his dismissal.

Gutierrez was removed from office last month by lawmakers accusing him of corruption and abuse of power. The ex-president received asylum in neighboring Brazil, though the conditions of his stay stipulate that he not make any statements regarding Ecuador.
