WASHINGTON, May 2 (UPI) -- U.S. Energy Secretary Sam Bodman will be in Paris this week, leading the American delegation to the International Energy Association summit.

The ministerial meetings will cover a number of issues, including the international energy markets, infrastructure development and improvements in energy efficiency.

Before he departed, Bodman said the industrial world needs to work with developing economies to ensure a favorable climate existed for investment in infrastructure and in environmentally friendly alternative energy.

Along with the United States, energy-consuming heavyweights such as China, Japan and the European Union will attend the conference.
