MIAMI, April 29 (UPI) -- Police have arrested a man suspected of eight rapes of women and little girls in 2003 in north Miami-Dade County, Fla.
Investigators would not released the name of the suspect or many other details, The Miami Herald reported Friday.
But they said they believed the man was the North Dade Rapist, whose last attack was on two sisters, 7 and 8 years old.
"An individual who is currently incarcerated in another jurisdiction on unrelated charges is being investigated regarding these rapes," police spokesman Bobby Williams said.
Investigators said the suspect may have tried to rape a ninth victim, but was chased away.
They said the man would break into homes before dawn and commit the rapes while the women and girls slept in their beds.
The assaults were reported during a period beginning in December 2002 and ending for no apparent reason in November 2003.
