Man charged with burying host in back yard

VALLEJO, Calif., April 27 (UPI) -- A Canadian citizen visiting a Vallejo, Calif., man has been charged with killing his host, burying him in his back yard and using his bank account to travel.

Paul William Mazzei was taken into custody Monday at Buffalo Niagara International Airport in New York and returned to Solano County, Calif., to face charges in the death of Michael Axhelm, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Police officials said they believe they will soon identify Axhelm's body as the decomposed corpse discovered Saturday buried in his back yard. A coroner determined the death was a homicide.

Mazzei had been visiting Axhelm, a retired IRS employee, intermittently for a decade or longer.
