DALLAS, April 26 (UPI) -- The second of the formerly conjoined Egyptian twins underwent successful reconstructive skull surgery Tuesday at a Dallas hospital.

Dr. Kenneth Salyer reported 3-year-old Mohamed Ibrahim was recovering well after the four-hour operation, WFAA-TV in Dallas reported. His twin brother, Ahmed, underwent similar surgery in February at Medical City.

Doctors hope the boys will be able to return home to Egypt by the end of the year.

Salyer said Mohamed is a very active boy, and he will have to continue wearing a special helmet while his skull heals.

"He's going to have to behave himself and that's going to be a tall order because he has gotten to be a very active young man, which we are all happy about," he said.

The Ibrahim boys were born conjoined at the tops of their heads in a small Egyptian town. They were separated during risky 36-hour surgery Oct. 11-12, 2003, in Dallas.
