MIAMI, April 26 (UPI) -- A Miami jury has ordered former baseball star Jose Canseco and his brother to pay $290,000 in punitive damages Tuesday as the result of a fight.

The award was in addition to $700,000 Jose and Ozzie Canseco were ordered to pay in damages Monday for injuries inflicted in a 2001 nightclub brawl.

The money was awarded to Christian Presley and Alan Cheeks, who said they were injured in the fight at the Opium Garden in Miami Beach, Fla., Halloween night, WPLG-TV reported Tuesday.

The fight broke out after someone grabbed Jose's date, Amber Glick, who was wearing a costume made of feathers and a bikini.

Canseco is one of the primary figures in baseball's steroid scandal. The retired outfielder wrote a book about the use of steroids entitled, "Juiced," and appeared before a Congressional committee on the subject last month.
