GOP continues to claim Washington win

SEATTLE, April 20 (UPI) -- The GOP has produced an analysis of Washington state's election results showing Dino Rossi beat Democratic Gov. Christine Gregoire by 100 votes.

The Republican Party's statistical report, part of its latest legal challenge in the contested 2004 election, contends Gregoire's win would be reversed if ballots cast under the names of felons, non-citizens and the deceased were removed from the equation, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported.

Judge John Bridges has ruled that showing improper votes outnumbered Gregoire's margin of victory is not enough; state law mandates the Republicans' suit would have to prove the improper ballots tipped the victory in favor of the Democrat.

The analysis was performed by political science professors Jonathan Katz of the California Institute of Technology and Anthony Gill of the University of Washington.

Gregoire won a hand recount by 129 votes of more than 2.8 million cast.
