Poll: Almost half in U.S. creationist

NEW YORK, April 12 (UPI) -- Six Asian, European and Latin American countries are opposing efforts by Japan and India to become permanent members of the U.N. Security Council.
The group, composed of Italy, South Korea, Pakistan, Argentina, Mexico and China, wants to stop a proposed U.N. reform known as Model A that would add six permanent seats to the existing five, the Financial Times said Tuesday.
The six nations also want to block Brazil, Germany and two African countries from getting permanent seats.
"We don't think it would be useful to admit new permanent members unless it could be done with the widest possible consensus, which doesn't exist right now," said Gianfranco Fini, Italy's minister for foreign affairs.
