Man apprehended in U.S. Capitol standoff.

WASHINGTON, April 11 (UPI) -- Portions of the U.S. Capitol were evacuated Monday afternoon during a standoff with a man before a security team apprehended the suspect.

A man in black approached the West front entrance of the Capitol with two suitcases and positioned himself in an empty fountain on the plaza facing the Capitol building before police tackled and took him into custody after a brief standoff.

The two bags in question have yet to be examined by Capitol Police. No one was hurt in the incident.
