Poll: Almost half in U.S. creationist
TEHRAN, April 9 (UPI) -- Iranian President Mohammed Khatami continued Saturday to deny he shook hands and talked with Israeli President Moshe Katzav during the Pope's funeral.
The Iranian News Agency Saturday quoted Khatami as saying: "I have not met at all any officials from the Zionist entity. We do not recognize Israel for moral and logical reasons, since the Zionist entity was created on the basis of terrorism and occupation."
He said any claims about the handshake with Katzav "are not true and have no basis."
Radio Israel reported Friday that Katzav shook hands with both Khatami and Syrian President Bashar Assad on the sidelines of Pope John Paul II's Friday funeral in the Vatican.
