JAKARTA, April 7 (UPI) -- Nearly 25,000 security officers will be deployed to safeguard the Asian-African Summit in Jakarta later this month, with 55 heads of state expected to attend.
Jakarta city police have urged the community to be alert for possible threats that could derail the April 22-23 summit.
Landlords have been urged to check the identity of renters, especially as two suspected terrorists -- Noordin M. Top and Azahari bin Husin -- are still on the loose.
Both Noordin and Azahari have been accused of masterminding a string of bombing attacks in Indonesia, including the October 2002 Bali blasts, the August 2003 bombing of Jakarta's J.W. Marriott Hotel, and the September 2004 blast outside the Australian Embassy in Jakarta.
