Woman charged in Michael Shiavo threat

SAN FRANCISCO, April 6 (UPI) -- Federal authorities charged a San Francisco woman with threatening to kill Michael Schiavo in a posting on an online message board.

Dera Marie Jones, 32, told FBI agents she was "just kidding" when she posted the threat March 23 on an American Online message board, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Terri Schiavo died Thursday, nearly two weeks after a court allowed her husband, Michael, to remove her feeding tube. She had been in a persistent vegetative state since suffering a heart attack 15 years ago.

Jones allegedly posted: "If she dies I will kill Michael Schiavo and the judge. This for real!"

Jones was charged with the federal offense of using interstate commerce to transmit a threat.

The woman said she had to change her online name because of threats she received after posting the message.
