LLANGOLLEN, Wales, April 6 (UPI) -- Police in Wales are investigating the deaths of nine elderly residents at a Welsh care home, icWales reported Wednesday.
The residents, aged 80 to 96, died in a four-week period from March 10 at home in Llangollen, apparently after suffering a flu-like illness, the report said.

The investigation was launched at the request of a local coroner.
A spokesman for the home insisted the deaths were not mysterious.
"We have recently lost some frail and vulnerable residents but not in mysterious circumstances," he said.
