Norway king recovering after surgery

OSLO, Norway, April 4 (UPI) -- Doctors said Monday they were "extremely satisfied" with the recovery of Norway's King Harald after Friday's heart surgery.

The 68-year-old king was reportedly up and about at the National Hospital Monday, but doctors said he will remain hospitalized for at least another week, newspaper Aftenposten reported.

The monarch was in surgery for nearly three hours Friday to replace a defective valve and undergo a bypass.

King Harald will not resume duties until May. His son, Crown Prince Haakon, will assume royal duties until that time, palace officials said.
