Islamic Jihad warn Israel over Aqsa mosque

April 4, 2005 at 9:17 AM   |   Comments

GAZA, April 4 (UPI) -- Islamic Jihad's military wing, al-Quds Brigade, warned Monday it would violate the undeclared truce with Israel if al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem is attacked.

A masked militant reading from a statement said in the city of Rafah in southern Gaza Strip the group would immediately attack if "Israelis carried out an attack on the mosque," Islam's third holiest shrine after Mecca and Medina.

Dozens of masked gunmen from al-Quds Brigade marched in Rafah following reports Jewish extremists might be planning to raid the mosque in an effort to abort Israel's withdrawal from Gaza.
