Syria to complete Lebanon pullout quickly

LONDON, March 30 (UPI) -- Syrian Information Minister Mehdi Dakhlallah said Wednesday his country will pull out of Lebanon as quickly as possible.

Dakhlallah, in a UPI interview in London, said Syria is coordinating the pullout of troops and intelligence operations with Lebanese officials.

The Lebanese multi-sectarian opposition has been pressing for Syria's complete withdrawal before general elections in May.

Asked if Syria will cooperate with an international investigation into the Feb. 14 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, Dakhlallah said Syria wants the truth as much as anyone.
