BAGHDAD, March 24 (UPI) -- An Iraqi prisoner died in coalition custody in south-central Iraq, a region under the command of the Polish military, U.S. Central Command said Thursday.

The man, in his mid-30s, was brought to the internment facility at Camp Charlie in Hillah, present day Babylon, Saturday.

He was found dead alone in his cell Wednesday. Central Command said several attempts were made to revive the man. An investigation of the man's death is under way.

More than 100 prisoners have died in coalition custody in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2001, government data indicate.
