Stolen safe found in river near falls

MADISON TWONSHIP, Ohio, March 22 (UPI) -- A safe found in the Grand River near Buttermilk falls in Madison Township, Ohio, contained $5,000, police said.

Police had to rappel a cliff and wade through icy water to recover the safe, reported WEWS-TV in Cleveland Tuesday.

Officers said the safe was stolen from a home on Jan. 31 and, after receiving several tips, police were directed to search along the banks of the river. The safe has been in the water for about two months, officers said.
