Poll: Almost half in U.S. creationist

MOSCOW, March 22 (UPI) -- Russia's State Duma may soon amend the recent law on replacing social benefits with monetary payments, Interfax reports.
"There are positive developments (in the process of carrying out the law), but we can see that a number of problems still remain unsolved, which means tension in society persists. In this situation, the Duma may possibly try to resolve the problems on its own by means of legislation," Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov said.
The new law has provoked angry protests especially from elderly pensioners, across Russia. The Russian government is widely expected to amend it by increasing the payments it will give to pensionsers.
