Accused BTK killer depressed, easy to deal

WICHITA, Kan., March 7 (UPI) -- Accused Wichita, Kan., killer Dennis Rader has trouble sleeping, complains about depression and has asked about his family, his lawyers told Time Magazine.

The lawyers said they will seek a change of venue for trial of Rader, who is accused of 10 counts of first-degree murder for the homicides police say were committed by the BTK serial killer, the Wichita Eagle reported Monday.

Public defender Sarah McKinnon said she and Rader's other lawyers "have been spending as much as five hours a day, every day, with Rader" at the Sedgwick County Jail.

"He has so far been easy to deal with," McKinnon told Time. "At times he seems weary. But I have seen him smile."

Rader's lawyers would not confirm media reports that Rader has confessed to the killings, the Time article said.
