Sudanese cargo plane crashes. No survivors

KHARTOUM, Sudan, March 2 (UPI) -- A cargo plane crashed in western Sudan Wednesday, killing all on board, including six Russians and their Sudanese translator.

Othman Abdullah, head of the aviation department, said the plane coming from Sharjah in the UAE crashed near the village of Aad Baker on the eastern bank of the Nile River after running short on fuel.

"The plane was supposed to land at Khartoum airport early morning," Baker said.

He said civil defense teams were dispatched immediately to the crash site and have recovered two bodies so far.

"Searches for the remaining bodies are continuing," he said, adding that the plane crashed in an unpopulated area.
