Student held for shooting bus driver

CUMBERLAND CITY, Tenn., March 2 (UPI) -- Police Wednesday held a male student in the fatal shooting of a Tennessee school bus driver assigned to his bus route.

The shooting occurred in Cumberland City, about 6 a.m. EST halfway through the morning route, and was carrying children from kindergarten through high school, the Nashville Tennessean reports. The bus ran into a telephone pole and a small tree shortly after the shooting. About a dozen students were on the bus at the time, police said.

WTFV, Nashville, described the alleged shooter as a 13-year-old boy who had argued with the driver earlier in the week.

Cumberland City is about 50 miles northwest of Nashville.
