MUKHTARA, Lebanon, March 2 (UPI) -- Lebanese opposition leaders Wednesday issued a list of demands, including the immediate withdrawal of Syrian troops and intelligence agents.
Several dozen politicians met at the remote hideout of Druze leader Walid Jumblatt in the Shouk Mountains, CNN reported.
They also called for the resignation of Lebanese security bosses, an investigation of the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and an international commission to oversee coming elections.
"These are the principles that the opposition defined ... Only if the authorities agree on these conditions we might take part (in talks on government) formation," Jumblatt told reporters.
Since Hariri was assassinated by a car bomb two weeks ago, tensions between the Lebanese opposition and Syria have increased, culminating earlier this week with the resignation of Lebanon's pro-Syrian government.
