Mexico: Legal action against militia group

MEXICO CITY, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- The Mexican foreign minister said Monday Mexico will use legal measures against U.S. militia groups at the border.

The Minuteman Project is a group of volunteers that says it plans to "guard" the southwestern U.S. border from illegal immigrants.

The group has proposed spending up to 30 days along the Arizona-Mexican border assisting the U.S. Border Patrol with spotting and turning back illegal immigrants from Mexico, beginning in April.

Foreign Minister Luis Ernesto Derbez told reporters the issue of the militia groups will be handled directly with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice when she meets March 10 with Derbez in Mexico City.
