Suicide bomber kills two in Iraq Saturday

BAGHDAD, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- A suicide car bomber killed two Iraqi civilians and injured a third Saturday, just missing a U.S. military convoy in Baghdad.

Police said the explosion, near a supermarket on the al-Adil highway, occurred a few yards from the convoy, CNN reported. There were no U.S. casualties.

Three civilians' cars were damaged, police said.

A U.S. Marine, assigned to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, was killed Friday while conducting security and stability operations in Iraq's al-Anbar province, U.S. military officials said.

Also Friday, a roadside bomb in Tarmiya killed three Task Force soldiers and wounded nine, said a spokesman for the 3rd Infantry Division.

In addition, a roadside bomb in Baghdad killed one Iraqi and "a terrorist fired into the crowd with an unknown weapon," killing two more Iraqis and wounding two, a U.S. military said.
