Holocaust denier to be sent to Germany

TORONTO, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- A Holocaust denier who has lived in Canada for decades is likely to be deported to Germany on Tuesday.

The Toronto Globe and Mail reports that Ernst Zundel received a letter from the Canada Border Services Agency notifying him that his removal is "imminent" and telling him that he can bring only two suitcases weighing no more than 32 kilograms (about 70 pounds) each.

Zundel, who was convicted in absentia in Germany of denying the Holocaust, faces new charges there.

Peter Lindsay, the lawyer who has represented Zundel in his two-year legal fight, said his client is disillusioned with Canada's justice system.

"We have been through the Superior Court of Ontario, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of Canada, Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal," Lindsay said. "The only ones we haven't tried are traffic court and small-claims court."

Zundel has been in a detention center since he was deported from the United States in 2003. He emigrated to Canada in 1958 and lived there until 2000, when he moved to Tennessee. A graphic artist by training, Zundel in recent years has worked fulltime on building a network of people who share his views.
