SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 26 (UPI) -- A California man faces up to 12 years in prison after admitting that he performed plastic surgery without a medical degree.
Nguyen Nhu Quang of San Jose admitted a series of crimes including the unlicensed practice of medicine, illegally supplying patients with codeine and other scheduled drugs and paying kickbacks for patient referrals, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Prosecutors say that Quang scarred at least nine women with surgery that included breast implants and face lifts.
A cosmetologist, Julie Thuy-Huong Trinh, also pleaded guilty to referring patients to Quang in a deal that limits her prison sentence to five years. She was also one of Quang's victims with visible scars from a botched face lift.
