BOGOTA, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Colombia's Supreme Court has authorized the extradition of notorious drug cartel leader Miguel Rodriguez Orejuela, El Tiempo reported Thursday.

Orejuela would be sent to the United States to face trafficking charges if the extradition is approved by Colombian President Alvaro Uribe.

Orejuela's brother, Gilberto, has already been sent to the United States to face similar charges.

The siblings were the founders of the notorious Cali cartel, responsible for most of the world's cocaine traffic during the 1990s.
