Chile: Forest fire keeps blazing

SANTIAGO, Chile, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Chilean firefighters and troops Tuesday fought a blaze in one of the country's most famous national parks, La Tercera newspaper reported.

So far 14,000 acres of the Torres de Paine Park in the southern Patagonia region have been destroyed, park officials said.

The area draws tourists worldwide.

The fire was reportedly started by a Czech tourist who accidentally dropped a gas cooker while camping illegally.

Chileans have expressed outrage the tourist was fined just over $200 and allowed to leave the country.
