ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- An Alaskan man was recovering Monday from weekend surgery to re-attach his penis after his girlfriend cut it off and flushed it down the toilet.
Doctors at Providence Alaska Medical Center sewed the 44-year-old man's penis back on Sunday after it was retrieved by city wastewater utility worker, the Anchorage Daily News reported Monday.
The injured man had reportedly let his girlfriend tie his arms during sex, which is when she allegedly used a kitchen knife to sever his penis.
The girlfriend, Kim Tran, 35, flushed the penis down the toilet, then drove to the victim to the hospital.
She was arrested and jailed without bond for domestic violence assault and tampering with evidence.
The case resembles the 1993 case of Lorena Bobbitt in Virginia, except she claimed abuse before she cut off her husband's penis and tossed it from a moving car.
