Jury: Mom not competent to stand trial

MCKINNEY, Texas, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- A Texas jury ruled Monday a mother charged with cutting off her baby's arms and killing her is not competent to stand trial.

Dena Schlosser will be committed to a state mental hospital until she is determined capable of standing trial for killing her 10-month-old daughter last year, The Dallas Morning News reported.

Xioyan Wu, a forensic psychiatrist, said Schlosser has heard babies screaming "mommy ... mommy" and seen babies' faces on her jail cell wall during her incarceration. She initially refused treatment, saying only God could help her, the psychiatrist said.

Schlosser might be found competent at a later date and face trial on a capital murder charge. She has been treated in the past for postpartum psychosis.
