RAMALLAH, West Bank, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Israel Monday began handing over the bodies of 15 Palestinians killed in attacks against Israel as a step in consolidating a newly reached truce.
The Palestinian ministry of public health said ambulances started transferring the bodies of 15 Palestinians from the Institute for Forensic Medicine in Tel Aviv to Gaza.
It said a convoy of 15 Palestinian ambulances and dozens of the dead relatives headed to the Erez crossing in the northern Gaza Strip to receive the remains.
Moaweya Hasanen chief of emergency in the health ministry said the operation was the result of coordination efforts between the Israeli army and the ministry of health.
The bodies belong to militants killed in the past year while carrying out attacks and suicide bombings in Israel.
