New ATF building model on display

WASHINGTON, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- The model of the new Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives headquarters is on display at a Washington museum, the bureau said Wednesday.

The architectural model -- the building is under construction at Second and N streets -- is part of the National Building Museum's exhibition "Open: New Designs for Public Space."

The four-month exhibition includes 27 international projects and explores contemporary and future directions in the design of public space. The ATF headquarters model -- the bureau still uses its old acronym before "explosives" was added to its title -- will be on display through May 15.

ATF's future headquarters model, entitled "GSA Federal Building," is one of seven public space projects in the Washington metropolitan area. Along with the National Museum of the American Indian and the Kennedy Center Renovation Project, it was selected for the "In The News" section in the exhibition, which examines contemporary spaces that are in development, under construction or recently completed in the area.
