AMMAN, Jordan, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Iraqis in Jordan and 13 other nations continued voting Saturday to select the first post-Saddam Hussein legislative council.

The voting, which started Friday, will continued through Sunday under the monitoring of the International Immigration Organization.

Voters lined up outside the 12 polling stations in Jordan that opened at 7 a.m. local time amid tight security measures.

The IIO said it was satisfied with the smooth voting, affirming a large number of Iraqis cast their votes in Jordan Friday, but providing no estimate.

The organization said about 20,000 of 200,000 eligible Iraqi voters in Jordan have registered to vote.
