Controversial Feith leaving Pentagon post

WASHINGTON, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Douglas Feith is resigning his post at the Pentagon, according to senior defense officials.

He is quitting the post to spend more time with his family, said Pentagon spokesman Larry DiRita.

Feith is one of the most controversial figures at the Pentagon and was one of the main architects of the war with Iraq. He was also one of the primary champions for terminating the 1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty with Russia, paving the way for the deployment of a national missile defense system.
