Experts discuss Japan's birthrate woes

TOKYO, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- The Japanese government Tuesday kicked off a roundtable discussion on how to reverse the continuing decline in the nation's birthrate.

The experts invited by the government include academics and policymakers as well as executives from dating agencies and other groups.

Topics of discussion will include not only encouraging women to have more children but also encouraging people to get married earlier and to embrace matrimony in the first place.

The group is expected to come up with a report of its findings by spring.
