Man found alive 13 days after tsunami

GALLE, Sri Lanka, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- A man found Saturday trapped under tsunami-created rubble has been rushed to a hospital in Galle, Sri Lanka, CNN reported.

The man was trapped under the rubble during the Dec. 26 tsunami. He remained trapped for 13 days. Doctors at Karapitiya Hospital said he was suffering from pneumonia and severe hydration, but he will certainly live.

"Miracles do happen," said Dr. Chandra Pala Mudanngake.

The tsunami death toll in Sri Lanka was near 50,000 Saturday, and about 900,000 people were homeless.
