France for holding Iraq poll as scheduled

PARIS, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- France said Thursday it favors holding the Iraqi elections as scheduled on Jan. 30 although it will be a difficult task.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Herve Ladssus said, "We believe that holding the elections in Iraq will be difficult but possible, and France calls on all Iraqis to reject violence in order to give a chance to the political process.
