Feds probe unexploded N. Calif. bombs

LINCOLN, Calif., Dec. 29 (UPI) -- The discovery of three unexploded bombs at a California construction site this week has brought federal terrorism investigators to the scene.

The Sacramento Bee said Wednesday a federal task force was looking into whether the incident in the community of Lincoln was the work of organized environmental radicals or simple vandals.

Graffiti at the upscale housing development indicated the incendiary devices had been planted in protest of the 50-home project's encroachment on woodlands.

Lincoln police said the devices failed to go off due to faulty timers, and likely were planted over the Christmas holiday when the site was shut down.
