The allegations have triggered protests across the Kashmir valley.

The army initially dismissed the charges against Hussain, but later ordered an investigation. The court gave Hussain until Dec. 26 to prepare his defense.

On World Human Rights Day, Dec. 10, more than 500 people marched through Srinagar, the capital of Indian-administered Kashmir. Some carried pictures of the 10-year-old girl who was allegedly molested by Hussain.
