CARDIFF, Wales, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- A rich Welsh property investor has begun a year's sentence for trying to seduce a schoolgirl, the Western Mail reported Friday.
John Currell, 43, was convicted of indecent assault for trying to get a 16-year-old girl to take off her top and also of touching her breasts, prosecutors said. The crime occurred as Currell drove the girl home from a martial arts class in his luxury BMW X5 and then followed her inside her home.
Currell, a father of two whose net worth is estimated at $30 million, told the girl she was pretty enough to be a topless model, a prosecutor said.
The judge ordered him to jail Thursday for 12 months.
"Eventually, he touched her breasts, stomach and back in a way that was deliberate and indecent," said a prosecutor, adding Currell later phoned the victim to say what happened should be "their little secret."
Currell read an apology in court to the victim and family, a gesture dismissed as insincere by the judge, who also ordered Currell to be registered as a sex offender for 10 years.
